Reading in books about historical facts and eras can be boring, if history is not your favorite subject. But when I saw greek temples, roman remains, norman and arabic architecture, I could picture the history of Sicily and feel part of it. The nature is also astonishing offering beautiful beaches, hills, mountains and trees of lemons and oranges. Our window overlooks rolling hills letting us take pictures of the red sunsets.
Sicily stays loyal to its traditions, so my year was also full of festivals from processions to parades. Food is an important part of Italians, with the main dish pasta, which I considered challenging at the beginning. Now I am afraid I will leave without tasting all of them.
Though my perception of Sicily gradually changed as I experienced it, still I will refer to some stereotypes as being true. People are hospitable, respectful to their families, speak loud and with gestures, also they drive crazily and they have a relaxed sense of time.
